Read How Lost In Translation is getting a sort-of sequel…

Today came the announcement that Bill Murray is set to re-team-up (is that a phrase?) with Sofia Coppola, reforming the dynamic duo that created Lost in Translation.

And on what project, I hear you ask? Well…in a Christmas TV Special…that will be a musical.

‘My motivation is to hear him [Murray] singing my song requests.’ – Sofia Coppola

There’s little info. It is all very vague.

‘It’s not going to be live…It will have texture. It will have threads through it that are writing. There will be prose … It will have a patina, style and wit to it. It will be nice.’ – Bill Murray

Thanks for the…clarification, Bill. It sounds downbeat and irreverent – two of the best elements of Lost in Translation. I hereby demand everyone to call it Lost in Translation 2.

Lost in Translation is a movie that has garnered a strong and devoted cult following since its release in 2003. The combination of Bill Murray’s melancholia and Sofia Coppola’s unflinching observations made for a touching and emotional portrait of middle-age.
