While the news breaks that French star Lea Seydoux (Grand Budapest Hotel) has signed on to be a Bond girl/femme fetale in the next James Bond (Working title: Bond 24), as well as muscle-sack Dave Bautista signing on to be a henchman called Hinx, it feels like everyone is missing the real reason to rejoice.
Seydoux will surely bring a steely sex-appeal to the picture, and Dave will pack a big punch, but the biggest coup of the production is deep in the crew.
His name is Hoyte Van Hoytema – a cinematographer who has composed some of the most beautiful images of the last decade. See his biggest movies below…
The brilliant Skyfall was shot by the legendary Roger Deakins and there’s no denying it looked incredible – truly British. But for Bond 24 to have the versatile Van Hoytema on board makes the movie’s visuals unpredictable in a way Deakins can’t imitate (Deakins shoots in similar styles across multiple genres while Van Hoytema adapts to each movie).
This movie is now destined for greatness in at least a visual field. So we can all relax about that.
Bond 24 starts filming in 6 weeks and is set for a November 2015 release worldwide. Still, I’m already excited. Are you? Let the world know via @MovieMasticator!
