Netflix enters the world of film production in an unlikely fashion…

So Netflix are going to take over the world. It’s has possession of all our hearts (not to mention money) and now it’s going to drag us all with it on a journey to Hollywood domination.

‘Hey, don’t worry about us. We’re just going to try to take over your TV, your Cinema, your laptop, tablet, phone, mind…’

They entered the lucrative world of TV Drama production with the much-loved House of Cards, with a little help from Kevin Spacey and David Fincher, and now they’ve announced they’re going to dive into full-length, Bona-fide, big-time film-making!

What groundbreaking, market-stalling, subscription-getting vehicle will herald Netflix’s curtain-raiser? Is it:

A) a sequel
B) a foreign language film
C) all of the above

Well folks, it’s C. Netflix’s first film funding will go to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2.

Sorry, I’ll just pause for the tumble weed.

Now, I’m not saying that their first film shouldn’t be a foreign language film, not at all, but it is a strange choice for a largely western set of subscribers, used to gorging on Breaking Bad.

Furthermore, what I am saying is that a sequel is surely a crazy idea? House of Cards succeeded as it was original and fresh…why would Netflix now do something so intrinsically stale?

Dear Mr. Netflix,

You can do better. And frankly, you have enough of our money to do better.

Good day.
